How to use beauty blender
How to Use the Beauty Blender Sponge:
Unparalleled Blending: When used correctly (damp), it provides seamless and homogenous blending of liquid and cream products (like foundation, concealer, cream blush, contour), giving the skin a natural, streak-free, airbrushed finish. Reduced Product Waste: Because it's used damp, its cells fill with water, preventing the sponge from absorbing large amounts of makeup. Consequently, you use less product. Versatile Application: It can be used to apply a wide range of products, not just foundation and concealer, but also loose powder (for setting or baking), cream products like blush, highlighter, and bronzer, and even some skincare products. Precise Access: Its pointed tip is perfect for small, precise areas like around the nose, under the eyes, and around the mouth, while its rounded base is ideal for larger areas of the face.
Wet: Before each use, run the sponge under tap water until it's fully saturated and roughly doubles in size. This is the most crucial step, as a dry sponge will absorb product and leave uneven, streaky coverage. Squeeze: After fully wetting it, squeeze out the excess water thoroughly. The sponge should be damp and expanded, not dripping wet. You can wrap it in a clean towel to absorb any extra moisture. Bounce/Dab/Stipple: Apply a small amount of product (like foundation) onto the back of your hand or directly onto your face. Then, use the damp sponge to distribute and blend the product using light, repetitive bouncing or stippling motions. Never wipe or drag the sponge across the skin, as this will remove the product and leave streaks instead of blending it.
For Foundation and Concealer: Use the rounded base of the sponge to distribute foundation over larger areas (cheeks, forehead, chin) with bouncing motions. Use the pointed tip to apply and blend concealer under the eyes, around the nose, and in areas needing more precision. For Cream Blush, Contour, and Highlighter: Apply small dots of the cream product onto your face, then use the damp sponge (a clean side or the rounded base) to gently blend the colors with bouncing motions until you achieve a natural, soft gradient. For Setting Makeup with Powder (Baking): After wetting and squeezing the sponge, dip its base or side into loose powder and gently press it onto the areas you want to set and brighten (like under the eyes, T-zone). Leave the powder for a few minutes, then sweep away the excess with a soft brush. The damp sponge helps press the powder effectively for a strong, long-lasting set. For Finishing Touches and Correcting Mistakes: If you've applied too much blush or bronzer, you can use a clean side of the damp sponge to bounce over the area to soften the color and blend it better. For Applying Skincare Products: It can be used to evenly distribute serums and moisturizers, especially around the eyes.
Cleaning Method: Wet the sponge thoroughly with water. Apply a dedicated sponge cleanser (like the solid or liquid Beautyblender cleanser) or use a gentle soap or baby shampoo. Gently massage the sponge between your fingers until it lathers and makeup residue comes out. Rinse it under running water while squeezing until the water runs completely clear. Drying: Squeeze out excess water well. Leave the sponge to air dry completely in a well-ventilated area (don't store it in a closed container or makeup bag while damp, as this encourages mold and bacteria growth). You can place it on its specific stand or on a clean paper towel. Replacement: It is recommended to replace the Beauty Blender sponge approximately every 3 months (even with regular cleaning) to ensure hygiene and optimal performance.
